Color Moods: Needlepoint is a multihued journey designed to help you explore your emotional landscapes. When words fail to fully convey what you are feeling, crafting with thread and color can help you express your moods and emotions.

This weekly live virtual workshop series will guide you through an exploration of color and emotions while also teaching you the basics of needlepoint. You don't need any prior experience to join, and the workshop kit includes all of the supplies you will need to complete the project.

While creating through needlepoint can be fun and relaxing, learning about your emotions within a cohort will enhance your experience. Learn from your fellow cohort members as they also navigate their emotional landscapes through color.

Meet Your Facilitator,

Dea Jenkins

I can easily recall a time when I struggled to speak freely about my emotions. Part of the issue was that I wasn't even able to name all that I was feeling. Even anger, with all of its unpredictable and aggressive energy, felt suppressed. It wasn't until I entered the safety of a designated space, designed to help me unravel all that I'd kept inside for years, that I became acquainted with the peace of mind and overall bright outlook that fills my days now. Don't get it twisted - this was a long and winding journey; one that required many approaches and a lot of patience.

Eventually, art became one of the key approaches in my pursuit of emotional wellness. Perhaps it was the way that art granted me freedom of expression without demanding that I verbalize, or even write out, what I was feeling. At times, I simply couldn't do either, yet art still offered me an outlet.

One of the most important lessons that I have learned so far is that it is possible to have, be, and feel better. There is a side of life that isn't plagued by limiting beliefs, staggering anxiety, gripping depression, or overall apathy. And there are tools that can help to cultivate a life of peace, joy, and fullness. Now I have the honor of sharing these lessons and other tips and tools that I have acquired over the years. It is a gift to guide many people through processes designed to cultivate mental and emotional wellbeing.

I discovered needlepoint like I do many of the crafts I fall in love with - scrolling through Pinterest! I saw an image of a needlepoint project that piqued my interest, and decided I wanted to learn the craft. I had no idea how relaxing and joyful I would find the process. It's the colors for me. There are so many yarn color options, it will make your head spin, and I am here for it all!

You don't need to have any experience with needlepoint, or with crafts in general, to participate in this workshop cohort. All you will need is an open mind, and a willingness to be part of creating something special with like-minded people. I hope that you will join us in creating a safe, open, and fun experience.

  • Needlepoint is known for its meditative qualities, often helping to calm anxiety and to relieve stress. The repetitive nature of creating stitches on a needlepoint canvas can be a peaceful experience, relaxing both mind and body.
